Some of you may still be concerned about the insurance policy that you bought or are thinking of buying.

I don’t know about you but I am and have always been a big fan of the Olympic Games.  The thought of people coming from all over the world to represent their country is always a highlight for anyone who loves sports and  loves competition.  I have always found that watching the television coverage has become a really good way to become familiar with the different destinations in which these games are held.  This year is certainly no exception.  China as a country is huge, diverse and bustling with life and activity.  This years Olympic venues are the perfect addition to the city of Beijing which has grown and evolved so much over the past 25 years.  The Chinese people are doing such a fine job of showcasing both their hospitality and pride in their nation that it really makes me wish I could simply take off and make it to the games before they conclude!

Over the course of our ten year tenure, we have always enjoyed the loyal and active participation of our Canadian customers.  They have implored us to cultivate a larger base of products within their country, not just so they could bid on them, but so our entire membership could visit our beautiful neighboring country to the North!  While we have offered a few products we had never really gained much critical mass throughout Canada.  I am happy to say that we have now rectified that situation and we offer more product in Canada now, than at any time in our companies history.

We have hotel product in Montreal, Toronto, Edmonton, Waterloo and Vancouver now on auction at some very top level properties.  We have rail passes and dining certificates available throughout the country as well as inclusive stays at fishing lodges and fitness spas in what I think are some of the most beautiful locations in North America!  If that isn’t enough, I might just have to take a week at Mont Tremblant during ski season for myself, because we have plenty of two bedroom vacation rentals available throughout.

Well it seems like everyday I have to post on another fuel surcharge by one of the cruise lines.  This time Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and Azamara Cruises are upping their fuel surcharges, less than two months after the last increase.  The high cost of oil is affecting everyone and the cruise lines are being hit hard.  While not unexpected, it is certainly not welcome, but given the state of the economy and the oil industry, cruising still gives a great bang for the buck.

Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises are increasing the surcharge from $8 per person per day to $10.  This will apply to all bookings made on or after June 30, 2008.  The new rate will apply to the first and second passenger in a cabin while the third and fourth passengers in a cabin will pay $5 per person, per day.
